Mr. Flatley was born and raised in Sligo, Ireland. Before immigrating to America, he spent his days working on a farm. He worked as a bricklayer before he decided to get into the plumbing and sewer trade, and from there, Flatley’s Plumbing Express was born! He started out with one single van and used it to lay down the foundation for the company that Flatley’s has become, servicing thousands of residents in the Chicago suburbs. Today we remember Michael Flatley – the man who started it all!
Michael founded the company in 1960 and worked very hard over the years to build a respectable, responsible, and well-loved plumbing establishment. Our longest customers are a testament to that; a proof of Michael’s hard work and dedication to providing superior and personal customer service. His favorite part of the job was solving the problem and building long lasting relationships with his customers. It’s that same work ethic that we strive to bring to our customers today.
No matter how hard Michael worked, he always made time for his wife and family. Every Saturday evening, he would put on his finest suit and take his wife out to dinner. He was no stranger to fun, either. As an avid fan of Irish music, he was President of the Irish Musicians. He loved being part of the organization – it was one of his favorite hobbies.
Michael had an incredible sense of humor and was unbelievably positive at both work and home. Michael was kind, generous, witty, happy go lucky, and loving. His employees described him as a great leader with an incredible work ethic. His family remembers him as a model husband, father, and father in law.
Michael Flatley loved two things above all: his family and friends, and Flatley’s Plumbing Express. He passed away on March 13th, 2015. For nearly six decades, Flatley’s Plumbing Express has provided Chicagoland with top notch service. Fortunately, we are able to carry on the hard work and dedication he began in 1960. Join us in remembering him today!
